WALT identify NZ notes and coins

WALT identify NZ notes and coins.

We had Captain Cash from ASB come to visit Room 4.
We learnt lots about saving money, spending money and
sharing money.

Miss Donnell decided to test us and see if we remembered how to sort out the coins and notes from biggest to smallest.

Look at my sorting success!

WALT identify 2D and 3D shapes

WALT identify 2D and 3D shapes

This term Room 4 have been learning about
shapes. We have been learning about how to
sort shapes and what different shapes look like.

Miss Donnell took us outside to test our knowledge
on what shapes we know. She gave us some
chalk to try and draw the shapes we knew. Then
she said shapes out loud like rectangle, triangle,
a shape with 3 sides and we had to try and draw
them!

WALT order numbers to 20.

WALT order numbers to 20.

The Seahorses have been working on ordering numbers to 20. We made sure we knew all of our numbers to 20 first and then we talked about what 'ordering' means. We used a game called 'Race to 20' which helped us to order our numbers quicker!

'I am working with Michael. I put all the numbers in the right place. It was easy to find them!'

Shape Pictures

We are learning to recognise 2d shapes in every day life.

Room 0 have been busy exploring shapes in a range of different ways.  One activity we did was to choose a range of 2d shapes and put them together to create a picture.  By doing this nga tamariki are able to see how shapes can be seen all around us every day.

"I made a giant ice cream truck.  It has lots of circles, some triangles, squares and rectangles", said Erica.

I am learning to add numbers where 5 is one of the numbers

In Maths we have been learning to add numbers when 5 is one of the numbers.  To help us get faster at solving these equations we played a game called "Murtle's Turtles".

"This game was easy because I could add the numbers quickly."

I am learning to say the number that comes after

In Maths we have been learning to say what number comes next in the line.  Erica had to choose a card from the pile and then put a counter on the number that would come next on her game card.
